AutoCard®
Laboratory Form Scanning and Management System

The AutoCard system improves laboratory efficiency by:

• Making a high quality virtual photocopy of your request card
• Allowing network access to all card images
• Searching is done by patient identification numbers and/or sample identification numbers
• Avoiding tedious and expensive photocopying, filing, sorting and retrieval of request cards
• Recognizing all common form barcodes. Any number of barcodes may be read, and the barcodes may be on the forms in any location and in any orientation

AutoCard allows rapid, distributed access to high quality request card images, indexed by patient identification numbers and/or sample identification numbers. The system manages long-term archiving of the images (on CD-ROM), and uses reliable, high-speed Canon scanners with automatic document feeds. Barcode recognition software included within AutoCard extracts barcoded information from the request cards for automatic indexing. Images are stored as TIFF images, which are crisp and detailed. You can zoom in to the image to read the fine print. AutoCard can manage scanning for several departments simultaneously, including differentiation of barcodes by length, embedded characters, or symbology. All major barcode symbologies are supported. You can scan batches of documents with one click. Simply place the batch into the input feeder of the scanner and click on the Scan button. That's it. AutoCard automatically scans all the documents, reads the barcodes and files the images.

The AutoCard viewer makes it easy to find the request form you are looking for. Images are indexed by the laboratory sample barcode number and by the Patient ID barcode number (if available) and can be found by using either number. You can access these images anywhere in the network, anytime!
