BloodTrack® AutoFate
Record the Fate of Blood Units

BloodTrack AutoFate Benefits
The AutoFate system allows nurses to quickly and easily record the arrival and fate of blood units using their existing nursing station computers:
  • Electronically records the fate of blood units
  • Automatically updates the Blood Bank System with blood unit fate
  • Electronically records the arrival of blood units
  • Eliminates uncertainty
  • Eliminates paper records and transcription errors
  • Establishes an electronic audit trail of blood transfusion events
  • Quick to implement
BloodTrack AutoFate Creates an Electronic Audit Trail
New regulations (e.g. EU directive 98/2002/EC) demand stricter blood record keeping, especially concerning threats of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). BloodTrack AutoFate is designed to enable nurses to quickly record the true fate of a blood unit. There's no long any reason to guess if a blood unit was transfused and these records can be kept indefinitely, in case infected patients need to be linked to specific blood units.
BloodTrack AutoFate Saves Time
BloodTrack AutoFate saves money by eliminating time consuming paper-based recording systems for both nurses and blood bank managers - all the necessary information for blood fate audit compliance is stored in the BloodTrack database. The information recorded includes:
  • Caregiver and device ID of each interaction
  • Arrival time of the blood unit on the ward
  • Blood unit fate including donation number and status (e.g. transfused, destroyed, spiked, aborted)
This information is also sent to the Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS or LIS)
BloodTrack AutoFate is Easy to Use
Using an optional barcode scanner, inputting blood bag information for arrivals and fate-of-units is as easy as scanning a barcode.
