Test Request Ordering at the Bedside

The PathRequest Mobile system improves patient safety and nursing efficiency at the bedside by:

• Providing effective ward ordering from the patient's bedside
• Sending pathology orders to the laboratory directly and immediately using wireless communication
• Ensuring positive patient identification by reading directly from the barcoded wristband
• Eliminating all bedside paper work and transcription errors as the handheld PDA collects all the necessary data
• Printing sample labels on the spot - virtually eliminating any chance of order or sample mix-ups
• Reducing test duplication

PathRequest Mobile is extremely flexible and can be tailored to your hospital's established protocols and your needs. It ensures both patient and user identification by scanning the patient ID and the caregiver ID. This enables different users to be assigned different levels of authority in ordering tests.

Orders can be grouped and ordered as a unit (as test panel, or by clinical condition), or individually. Tests can be ordered by simply checking the corresponding boxes. Additional information can be added to particular tests. Users are prompted to enter this information - no more incomplete test requests.

PathRequest can print sample labels with patient information read directly from the patient's wristband. PathRequest automatically prints the correct number of sample labels - and clearly shows which label belongs to which sample tube. Samples may be collected immediately at the time the order is placed, or later on (PathCollect is required for order retrieval in this case).

PathRequest will automatically add tests to recently collected samples and will eliminate duplicated tests. All functions are accessed with a simple, intuitive graphical interface that guides the user in a step-by-step manner.
